The Mac

Mungo Jerry

# 23 Summary

Yay me! I have come to # 23! This has been a lot of fun ! I was nervous in the beginning...I had no experience with most of the "things". I found that as I moved along some of them were very easy after all...especially when I actually read the directions. Some I doubt I will use because of using something else. I really liked doing this online and at my own pace. No pressure! YouTube I really like and I had a ball playing with the avatars. Rollyo wasn't one of my favorites. I think if any of our patrons were to ask me questions I might be able to hold my own. (As long as it's on one I liked.) I would take this again if offered because one can never learn enough.

# 22 Audiobooks

I went into Project Gutenberg because I'm tired of setting up accounts for every little thing. So many books but I wasn't crazy about the selections. I did see what appeared to be ALL of Laura Lee Hope's books...Bobbsey Twins, Bunny Brown, etc.. Easy to use, though.

# 21 Podcasts

I searched theough podcast.net. Amazing how many podcasts there are on so many topics. I listen to podcasts on Sirsidynix a lot. I didn't want to do a podcast because I've done the narration on Photostory and HATE the way my voice sounds. You need someone who sounds like a guy from New Jersey? Pick me!

# 20 YouTube

He's STILL annoying after all these years!!

# 19 Web 2.0 awards

I spent entirely too much time on here. I tried Guess the Google and didn't do well. I looked at the music catergories and I really like Pandora. There's so many to choose from...some were familiar and some I've just leaned while doing 23 things. It was really neat.

# 18 Zoho 30 boxes etc

I had lot of fun with this. I see why it was mentioned that some people like these web based apps better than microsoft office. I'm finding it much easier to use. 30 boxes is really easy. Altogether I think they're much more user friendly.

# 17 Learning 2.0 Sandbox

This was fun. I didn't understand part of the directions of entering my blog name. JB helped me out...I even learned how to "steal the lock" and passed that info on to PN. I added Chinese food because I wasn't sure Frozen thingys were considered FOOD...even though I saw someone had added ice cream..coffee ice cream. Yum!

# 16 Wikis

This was a really neat "thing". I've listened to Meredith Farkas podcasts through Sirsidynix and she truly is the "Queen of Wikis". I found so many interesting ones on here on all kinds of subjects. This was one I got really excited about...until I saw it was a year old:http://www.yalibrarian.com/wordpress/2006/07/nintendo-wii-at-your-library/
Maybe we should think about using wikis in our system.

# 15 Library 2.0

I just read Rick Anderson's "Away from the icebergs". A scary thought that his circulation is down by 55% but does it make a difference that he's at a university library and not a public one? I understand the "just in case collection"...it takes up a lot of room in the stacks for just-in-case. Since we're having to heavily weed before renovation I've found we can't have one of those collections. "The machine is us/ing us"...wow...that was almost faster than a single bullet...it's amazing to see where we started and where we are now...and where we're going!

# 14 Technorati

2nd life must be gaining in popularity.

I'm finding all kinds of neat stuff in here and I'm amazed at the amount of blogs.
Another one I don't think I'll use too much, though.

# 13 Del.icio.us and tagging

I set up an account and looked around. Funny thing, though. Nothing interested me. Must have been the wrong time of day or something. I DID find Mungo there. I keep hearing that song (have been hearing it forever) and decided to see just what they looked like.
